BlackBerry Torch 9810 Review
The 1.2GHz processor and updated display serves the BlackBerry Torch 9810 well. Its paltry 624MHz CPU and 512MB of RAM were subpar compared with the specs belonging to other flagship devices on the market at the time. An Adreno 205 GPU (graphics processing unit) is also on-board, powering BlackBerry 7′s hardware accelerated graphics, which RIM has dubbed “liquid graphics.” The 9810 also packs more internal storage, offering 8GB of space compared to the OG’s 4GB capacity. Inside, you’ll find 8GB of internal storage (doubled from 4GB originally) and room for a MicroSD memory card.
The weight hasn’t changed in the slightest – it’s still 161g and feels like a bit of a beast in the hand. The 5.68-ounce phone measures .57 inches thick, and in comparison to the new .41-inch thick Bold or any slider it’s just chunky in pocket.
The Torch 9810 has a 3.2 inch screen, with a resolution of 480×640. It gives us a crisper experience. Graphics simply look smoother and sharper, and text is crisper than before thanks to the improved pixel density. The big screen offers a better media playback experience and makes it easier to take full advantage of the phone’s new touch-optimized OS.
One of the most impressive parts of this handset is its 5-megapixel camera. the image stabilisation and LED flash are decent enough, and even rank amateurs will be able to take a half-decent snap with this device. Images looked sharp and colors were accurate, especially in bright sunlight. Low light shots suffered a little bit, and looked softer than usual. The largest feature improvement in the camera was the inclusion of 720p HD video capture, a welcome addition to one of the brand’s most neglected features in the past.

Battery life on the original Torch 9800 wasn’t exactly the best. Â It does have a bigger battery at 1270mAh vs. 1230mAh in the Bold 9900 but one wouldn’t think that extra 40mAH would make all the much of a difference.
The RIM BlackBerry Torch 9810 is a quad-band world phone featuring 3G and HSPA+ technology, which AT&T defines as “4G.” It also supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.2, and GPS. The handset also has pretty decent multimedia offerings for what is still a corporate-friendly handset.
